Paper and replay
Practice accounts, bar-by-bar replay and backtest results.
Paper accounts
Paper accounts let you practise with simulated money on live prices. Create one under Accounts → New paper account, with the starting cash you want. Leverage sets buying power; slippage is given up on market and stop fills, and commission is charged on every fill, so results are closer to the real thing. Resting paper orders and brackets keep working while the app is closed.
You can disconnect paper trading to hide paper accounts from every account list. They and their history are kept, and come back when you connect again. A paper balance has no monetary value.
Replay
Replay plays the market back bar by bar from a point you choose: a bar, a date, the first available date or a random bar. Play, pause, step one bar, change the speed, or jump back to real time.
- Buy and sell on the Backtest account while you replay. Replay trades fill on the replayed bars, on that account only; nothing reaches a broker.
- Backtest results show equity, net P&L, closed trades, win rate, profit factor, drawdown and the best and worst trades.
- Orders you place on any other account during a replay still go to that account at live prices.
Paper, replay and backtest results are simulations and are not indicative of future results.
